The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has awarded the prestigious “Order of Freedom” to Harry Bajraktari in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to Kosovo’s freedom, independence, and state-building.
In her official announcement, President Osmani praised Bajraktari for his historic role as a powerful advocate for Kosovo in the United States for over three decades.
“It was a distinct honor to award the ‘Order of Freedom’ to Mr. Harry Bajraktari today, recognizing his tremendous contributions to the freedom, independence, and statehood of the Republic of Kosovo,” Osmani stated. “For more than three decades, Mr. Bajraktari has been one of the strongest voices for Kosovo in the United States.”
She highlighted Bajraktari’s close collaboration with historic President Ibrahim Rugova during critical years for Kosovo, where he represented Kosovo’s cause before U.S. institutions.
President Osmani also emphasized Bajraktari’s unwavering support for the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and his influential role in mobilizing the Albanian-American community on the international stage.
“With tireless dedication, he has built important bridges of cooperation with the White House, the U.S. Congress, and other American leaders, supporting Kosovo during decisive moments and standing firmly with our people,” Osmani added.
The “Order of Freedom” is one of the highest state honors bestowed in Kosovo and symbolizes gratitude for contributions that have significantly advanced Kosovo’s national cause.
