The Kosovo Police say they have found ammunition and hand grenades in the north of the country.
According to the Police, weapons and ammunition were discovered in an abandoned house in Zvečan.
“On 25 January 2026, at around 11:20, police units from the North Mitrovica Regional Police Directorate, after receiving information from citizens that weapons and ammunition might be located at a site in the village of Small Rudar (Rudar i Vogël), Municipality of Zvečan, immediately responded to the scene. During a search of an abandoned and uninhabited house, the Police found and seized: 9 hand grenades, 538 rounds of ammunition, and 3 magazines for automatic weapons,” the statement said.
The Police added that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was also deployed at the scene and handled the explosive devices safely.
“All police actions were carried out in full coordination with the State Prosecutor, who instructed the initiation of a case for ‘Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons,’” the statement continued.
Regarding this case, the Police said that “no persons have been arrested.”
“The Kosovo Police thank citizens for their continued cooperation and encourage them to continue reporting any suspicious cases by calling the emergency number 192,” the statement concluded.
