Analyst and political development expert in the country, Gani Qarri, has raised the alarm that Serbia may organize terrorist attacks in Kosovo on the eve of Kosovo’s accession to the Council of Europe.
“For some time now, Prime Minister Kurti himself, as well as the highest leaders of the security institutions, have raised concerns about possible attacks by Serbian terrorist groups in the northern part of our country, so the authorities of the Republic of Kosovo have increased vigilance and readiness, due to the possibility that Serbia, in the name of military maneuvers, may again attempt to catapult arms and Serbian terrorist groups to cause new excesses and other terrorist acts in northern Kosovo, especially now, when we, as a new state, are facing a very important process, such as Kosovo’s accession on May 16 to the Council of Europe, which fascist Serbia is trying to hinder by any means and possibilities, not excluding terrorist attacks,” Qarri tells “Bota sot”.
According to him, Serbia aims to repeat actions similar to those of September 24 last year, where police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
“Even just 15 months ago, or a little more, Serbia requested from NATO’s Military Mission, the deployment of 1000 members of the Serbian army and police in Kosovo, an act that rightfully, was rejected by NATO, which proved to be also used as a camouflage form, for Serbia’s subsequent actions, with Serbian terrorist groups trained in Serbia, which by misusing the silence of the USA, the EU, and the international factor, for the Serbian terrorist act in Banja of Zvečan, on September 24, 2023, it seems that hegemonic Serbia once again aims to repeat Serbian terrorist acts in northern Kosovo, to raise tensions with the aim of escalating the situation and presenting the situation there as uncontrollable by the Kosovo Police,” emphasizes Qarri.
“As is known, on June 14 last year, although in the Kumanovo Agreement, it is stated that under no circumstances, no force of the Republic of Serbia is allowed to enter within the territory of Kosovo, initially Serbian forces arrested three Kosovo police officers within the territory of our country, while NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, although it is tasked with guarding the borders and there is a neutral zone between the two countries, which Serbian forces dare not cross, and even enter within the borders of Kosovo, after the kidnapping of our three police officers, KFOR itself declared that they did not know what had happened and that for them “it remains unclear” where the Kosovo police officers were at the time of the arrest. As a coincidence, KFOR also declared the same with the case of the information of British parliamentarian Mrs. Kearns, who testified that Serbian churches and monasteries were filled with ammunition and weapons from Serbia, loaded in ambulances, even after the capture of all that amount of sophisticated Serbian weapons and ammunition of vehicles brought from Serbia to Kosovo, which can only be transported through normal roads and not on the side and through forests, across the interstate borders, KFOR, again made the uninformed, for all that happened,” Qarri says.
Just like many security experts who have warned, Qarri also says that in Serbia terrorist groups are being trained for attacks in Kosovo.
“In addition to this, the members of the Security Committee have once again raised concerns that the unit ‘Cobra’, known as the most elite unit of Serbia, whose members, in June last year, abducted three police officers within the territory of Kosovo, are now part of the training of extreme Serbian terrorist groups, along the border between Serbia and Kosovo, waiting for the criminal Vučić’s order to carry out terrorist actions, these are indeed very strong reasons, rightfully raising the alarm for possible terrorist attacks in the northern part of our country, where people like Aleksandar Filipović may be involved, who despite being a member of the Serbian Ministry of Interior and associated with the Serbian BIA, at the request of Milan Radoičić, was appointed as the police station commander in Leposavić, and then in northern Mitrovica, despite the fact that he had close contacts with Vulin and Serbian security services and is suspected of involvement in the murder of Oliver Ivanović, whom Vučić decorated with a medal for special services to Serbia,” declares analyst Qarri.
“So especially now, when we, as a new state, are facing a very important process of accession, such as the possibility of Kosovo’s acceptance on May 16 in the Council of Europe, when it is known that Serbia opposes this advantage of our country by any means and possibilities, new Serbian terrorist acts should certainly never be excluded, in its efforts to destabilize, at least the situation in the north, not only through military maneuvers in Serbia but also through paramilitary terrorist actions within Kosovo,” explains Qarri.
He adds that Serbia’s main goal is to hinder Kosovo on the road to the EU, as well as to keep the situation under constant tension.
“Serbia’s goal is to create the strongest possible obstacles to our country, especially since it is well known that Serbian criminals and terrorists who participated in the terrorist attack in Banja of Zvečan, are free and have strong support from the criminal power of Serbia, which requires maximum vigilance and high institutional readiness, so that our law enforcement agencies are not caught off guard and respond as harshly and fully adequately as possible to any possible Serbian terrorist attack in our country, when it is known that even Prime Minister Kurti himself and the heads of security institutions have continuously raised concerns about possible Serbian terrorist attacks in our now rehabilitated northern part of the country,” concludes analyst Gani Qarri.
