In honor of Europe Day, at the European Team Fair, Ambassador Heleni Vakali from the Greek Liaison Office stated that there were many visitors at the Greek booth, where traditional foods and drinks were being offered, reports Rks News.
She emphasized the importance of peace, cooperation, and the Greek origin of the word “Europe,” calling this day a true European celebration.
“We have many visitors at the traditional Greek kitchen stand, with many traditional Greek flavors and also sweets for the children. We would be very happy to welcome you there, to enjoy Greek wine, retsina, ouzo, and also some Greek foods.
This day is very beautiful because, just like last year, it is sunny, and Greece, as you know, is an old member of the European Union. We feel it; we have a deep sense for this day and always celebrate it in the happiest way possible. It is a day when we remember how important peace, cooperation, and dialogue between nations are. And if I may add, I would like to remind everyone of the Greek origin of the word ‘Europe,’ as well as the Greek myth of the abduction of Europe, the very beautiful princess, by Zeus, the king of the gods,” she said.
