President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, met today with a delegation from the European Parliament, led by MEP Michael Gahler, who is in Albania to observe the elections scheduled for May 11th. During the meeting, they discussed in-depth the electoral process and its importance in meeting European standards as part of Albania’s journey toward EU integration.

The European lawmakers expressed special interest in the innovations of these elections, particularly the inclusion of the Diaspora vote. Today’s meeting was the final gathering between the President and international observers before the official start of the electoral silence period, as reported by A2CNN.

In this context, President Begaj shared a special message for the Albanian citizens, encouraging them to participate in the elections with calmness, responsibility, and dignity. “May 11th is a special day for each of you. I invite you to exercise your right to vote with full awareness, because democracy is not just one day of voting, but a daily commitment,” said the President.

He also emphasized the duty of institutions to ensure a fair and transparent process, underscoring that only through credible elections can citizens’ trust in the state and democracy be built. President Begaj concluded his message by urging the public to turn May 11th into a day of celebration and citizen engagement.
