The High Representative of the European Union for foreign policy and security, Josep Borrell, has not yet finalized the report regarding the possibility of lifting the measures against Kosovo.

According to well-informed European sources, Borrell’s report should be completed by the end of May at the latest. The report is expected to contain the recommendation for the lifting of the measures and the only unknown is whether they will be lifted completely or gradually, reports the paparazzi. According to these sources, the operation in the north last Monday has delayed the finalization of the report, to take into account these actions of the Kosovar authorities.

They claim that the report will also include last week’s operation by the Kosovo authorities, when the police closed six facilities of the Savings Bank of the Post of Serbia and the People’s Bank of Serbia, in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo.

Peter Stano, the EU spokesman, has confirmed that recent events will also form an integral part of Borrell’s report.

Strano stated that the measures were put in place to motivate the Kosovo authorities to work on de-escalation. Of course, everything that happens on the ground, which has a negative impact on de-escalation efforts, is recorded and included in the report.

Most of the member countries of the European Union, at the end of April, immediately after holding the vote for the dismissal of the mayors of the municipalities in the north, declared for the lifting of the measures against Kosovo.
