A moderate earthquake was recorded on Friday afternoon near Gjirokastër, causing concern among local residents.
According to preliminary seismic data, the earthquake measured 3.6 on the Richter scale and struck at a depth of approximately 5 kilometers, making the tremor noticeable in the surrounding area.
While the shaking caused brief alarm among residents, authorities have not reported any injuries or material damage so far.
Due to its relatively shallow depth, the earthquake was felt more strongly near the epicenter despite its moderate magnitude. Albania is located in a seismically active region and experiences frequent minor earthquakes throughout the year.
Officials continue to monitor the situation, but no emergency measures have been announced following the tremor.
