The Free Trade Agreement between the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and Kosovo will enter into force on October 1, 2026, opening new opportunities for businesses and strengthening economic ties, the Swiss Embassy in Kosovo announced.
EFTA comprises Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
“A new chapter in trade relations: The EFTA–Kosovo Free Trade Agreement enters into force on October 1, 2026,” the Swiss Embassy said in a statement.
The embassy said the agreement is expected to create new opportunities for businesses while further strengthening economic relations between Kosovo and the four EFTA member states.
The Swiss Federal Council on Wednesday approved the necessary changes required for implementation of the agreement, describing the move as an important step toward strengthening trade relations and creating new opportunities for businesses.
The entry into force of the agreement is expected to provide a more structured framework for trade between Kosovo and EFTA countries and further facilitate economic cooperation.
The agreement represents another step in Kosovo’s efforts to expand its trade and economic partnerships with European countries beyond the European Union.
