As temperatures drop, Kosovo has planned additional electricity imports to cover production shortfalls.
According to the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE), demand for supply increases in the coming months, prompting plans for extra energy imports.
“Kosovo, like many other countries, may face energy supply challenges this winter due to increased demand and varying supply conditions. Energy companies have made the necessary preparations and plans to respond promptly to any local production shortages,” ZRRE officials stated to RTK.
Compared to previous years, electricity consumption in Kosovo has increased by 7% this year, as many citizens have been using air conditioners and other electrical devices.
The Kosovo government has introduced a series of measures this year to subsidize energy efficiency, aiming to reduce energy consumption.
