Ankara, July 30, 2025 — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed strong support on Tuesday for recent moves by several European countries, including France and the United Kingdom, toward recognizing the State of Palestine.
“We consider the recent humanitarian reactions from Europe, especially from France and the UK, as highly valuable. We welcome every step taken toward the recognition of the State of Palestine,” Erdogan said during a speech in Ankara, according to Reuters.
Erdogan revealed that he personally called French President Emmanuel Macron to congratulate him on France’s decision to recognize Palestine, calling it a pivotal moment. He emphasized that backing a two-state solution remains the most effective way to challenge Israeli policies and achieve lasting peace in the region.
Erdogan’s remarks reflect Ankara’s longstanding stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and come amid renewed international efforts to advance Palestinian statehood, following months of escalation in Gaza and the West Bank.
