In Monday’s meeting, the foreign ministers of the European Union member states will discuss measures against Kosovo, but no concrete decision is expected regarding their removal.

This is according to diplomatic sources in Brussels who are familiar with the organization of the meeting.

Many member states, including some of the most powerful ones, have expressed opposition to the continuation of the measures, arguing that they are meaningless and damaging the process of normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as undermining the work of the new European Union envoy for dialogue.

Several senior European officials have pointed out that member states are currently at an impasse on this issue due to the lack of unanimity on removing the measures. According to these sources, opposition to removal comes not only from states that have not recognized Kosovo, but also from some that have recognized its independence. These states, it is said, are waiting for concrete actions from the official Pristina to enable the achievement of consensus within the EU on lifting the measures, reports RTK.

These discussions will take place as part of the broader debate on the Western Balkans during the ministerial meeting in Luxembourg. The debate will be preceded by a working dinner scheduled for Sunday, April 13, between the EU foreign ministers and their counterparts from the Western Balkan states.
