The European Union, represented by Ambassador Aivo Orav, inaugurated a new sports hall in Zveçan, Kosovo, marking an investment of approximately €2.5 million funded by EU resources.

Ambassador Orav was welcomed by Zveçan Mayor Dragisha Milloviq, municipal staff, and members of local sports clubs. Prior to the inauguration, the mayor signed the Official Handover Protocol.

The multi-purpose hall is designed for basketball, handball, volleyball, futsal, and other sports. It features a full sports court, locker rooms, auxiliary spaces, and a stand with a capacity of 640 spectators, along with supporting infrastructure around the facility. EU funding also covered sports equipment.

Addressing youth and attendees, Ambassador Orav said:

“This is more than a modern building. Today is a very happy day as we finally inaugurate this sports hall in Zveçan. The European Union is Kosovo’s largest donor, investing in infrastructure and reforms. I believe this sports hall will benefit many people here in Zveçan and surrounding municipalities, and I hope it will be used to its fullest.”

Mayor Milloviq thanked the EU for the support:

“Thanks to the European Union’s resources, our youth, athletes, and community members now have access to this magnificent sports facility, not only for sports but also for recreation. I hope it becomes a new center, a home for our young people to gather.”

With the official handover, the Municipality of Zveçan assumes responsibility for managing the hall, ensuring it is used inclusively for the benefit of youth and the local community.

The new sports hall provides modern, fully equipped space for young people in Zveçan to engage in sports, develop talents, and promote teamwork and community spirit.
