The European Mission for the Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) has participated in the activity of the country’s institutions to commemorate the missing of the war in Kosovo, on the National Day for Missing Persons.
Through an announcement, EULEX has expressed its solidarity “for the 1615 persons who disappeared from the war in Kosovo and immediately after it, as well as with their families”.
“Family members of all missing persons have the right to know the truth about the fate of their loved ones. We remain committed to working continuously with the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Kosovo and other relevant institutions to help them fulfill this right by locating missing persons, as well as sharing advice and expertise on identifying graves yet to be found. undiscovered, carrying out exhumations and identifying the victims”.
“From 2009 until today, EULEX has actively participated in 800 field operations to find missing persons, including 209 exhumations. The mortal remains of 501 people have been identified, including 343 missing people”, said EULEX in the press release.
The deputy head of the Mission, Emily Rakhorst, participated in the activity organized by the Kosovo authorities.
