European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas will begin a visit to the Western Balkans on Monday, but her trip will notably exclude Kosovo and Serbia.
Kallas is scheduled to visit Podgorica, where she will meet with Montenegro’s Prime Minister Jakov Milatović. She will then travel to Tirana for a joint press conference with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During her stay in Albania, Kallas will also inaugurate the EU-Albania Security and Defense Dialogue and deliver remarks to students and members of civil society.
Her visit will continue in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she will meet with members of the EUFOR Althea mission, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other local authorities.
The decision to exclude Kosovo and Serbia from her itinerary comes amid ongoing tensions and stalled dialogue efforts between the two countries.
