Acting Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla welcomed the official recognition of Kosovo by Syria, emphasizing that the country is becoming increasingly strong and respected on the international stage.
Gërvalla expressed her gratitude to President Vjosa Osmani for her commitment to strengthening Kosovo’s international presence, as well as to the President of Syria, Bashar al-Sharaa, and allies in Saudi Arabia for their role in facilitating this diplomatic success.
“We look forward to building sustainable diplomatic relations and concrete cooperation with Syria in areas of mutual interest. Every day, the Republic of Kosovo grows stronger and more respected internationally,” Gërvalla said.
Syria now becomes the 120th country to recognize Kosovo’s independence, declared on February 17, 2008. Despite this progress, Kosovo’s sovereignty remains unrecognized by five EU member states: Spain, Slovakia, Greece, Cyprus, and Romania.
