The Institute for the Advocacy of Correctional Policies has described the blocking of Albanian travelers on both sides of the border by the Serbian authorities as illegal and contrary to human rights.
“The action of arresting for several hours, without any justified reason, constitutes an act of arbitrary arrest of persons and is contrary to the principle of the right to freedom and security, protected by international standards of human rights, such as the European Convention of Human Rights, of which the Republic of Serbia is a part”, says their reaction.
They asked the Serbian side to bear institutional and political responsibility, while the Kosovar side asked for concrete actions that lead to the punishment of the perpetrator.
“These actions of the authorities of Serbia are contrary to the agreement reached earlier with the Republic of Kosovo for the free movement of people, within the negotiations between the two countries, mediated by the European Union”, IAPK reacts.
