Turkish President Rexhep Tajip Erdogan stated that is taking all necessary measures in close coordination with NATO allies and reacts immediately when required, following the incident involving the interception of an Iranian missile.

Erdogan emphasized that Turkey is issuing the strictest warnings to prevent similar incidents and affirmed that the country “leaves nothing to chance” regarding the security of its borders and airspace, especially amid the current regional tensions.

According to Turkish authorities, a ballistic missile launched by Iran passed over the airspace of Iraq and Syria before heading toward Turkey.

Official sources confirmed that the missile en route to Turkey was destroyed by a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Mediterranean Sea, which is part of NATO’s air defense system.
