A Kosovo citizen was reportedly detained while crossing the border between Serbia and Croatia and later transferred to Belgrade, where proceedings against him are continuing, according to his lawyer, Arijanit Koci.
Koci said the man was 47-year-old Dukagjin Magjuni from Bec, near Gjakova. According to the lawyer, Magjuni’s family was informed several hours after his detention that he had been transferred to Belgrade.
The reasons for the arrest and the legal basis for his detention were not immediately clear, Koci said.
The lawyer criticized Kosovo’s political leadership over what he described as ongoing mutual accusations and “endless conflicts,” arguing that while Kosovo’s politicians remain focused on internal disputes, Serbia continues to arrest Kosovo citizens.
“While we are dealing with mutual accusations and endless conflicts, Serbia continues to arrest our citizens,” Koci said, according to reports by Kosovo-based outlet KOSSEV.
The case adds to longstanding concerns in Kosovo over the detention of its citizens by Serbian authorities, particularly at border crossings and in cases involving Serbian arrest warrants.
Further details about the allegations against Magjuni, including whether Serbian authorities have formally charged him and the grounds for the proceedings in Belgrade, were not immediately available.
