Italian troops serving with the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) have conducted a live-fire training exercise at the Razorback shooting range near Prishtina, KFOR said.
The training was aimed at maintaining operational skills and updating soldiers’ knowledge of individual weapons systems, while also strengthening operational procedures, improving coordination and increasing confidence in the safe handling and use of weapons.
KFOR said such exercises are part of efforts to maintain a high level of operational readiness and situational awareness among its personnel.
“Through such training activities, KFOR personnel maintain a high level of operational readiness and situational awareness, demonstrating KFOR’s continued commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo,” the mission said.
KFOR continues to carry out its mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, adopted in 1999, with the mission tasked with contributing to a safe and secure environment and ensuring freedom of movement for all people in Kosovo.
The NATO-led mission said it continues to work closely with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), within their respective security roles and responsibilities.
The live-fire exercise comes as KFOR continues routine training and readiness activities involving its multinational contingents in Kosovo.
