The Kosovo–EFTA Free Trade Agreement has entered into full implementation, with the first export of goods from Kosovo carried out today at the Dheu i Bardhë border crossing.

Deputy Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation Jeton Mehmeti was present at the border crossing to observe the practical implementation of the agreement and the procedures involved in Kosovo’s first export under the new framework.

As of October 1, 2026, the agreement is fully applicable between the Republic of Kosovo and the EFTA member states of Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway, creating new and more favorable conditions for expanding trade and increasing exports of Kosovo-made products to these markets.

The first export through Dheu i Bardhë marks an important step in putting the agreement into practice, facilitating trade and strengthening economic ties between Kosovo and the EFTA countries.

Under the agreement, goods that meet the specified requirements may benefit from preferential tariff treatment. Economic operators must ensure that proof of origin and other required documentation comply with the agreement and applicable rules.

Kosovo Customs, in cooperation with relevant institutions and businesses, will continue to ensure the full implementation of the agreement and facilitate customs procedures in accordance with legal requirements and the rules established under the agreement.

The full implementation of the Kosovo–EFTA Free Trade Agreement represents an important opportunity for Kosovo businesses to expand into EFTA markets and increase the country’s export potential.

The first export carried out today through Dheu i Bardhë marks the beginning of the agreement’s practical implementation and a new step in developing trade and economic relations between Kosovo and the EFTA countries.
