The Kosovo Police, through the Investigation Sector of the Border Department, in cooperation with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), arrested a Jordanian national and a Turkish national on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “migrant smuggling.”
According to police, the suspects are believed to have organized the entry of foreign nationals, primarily from the Middle East and Asia, into Kosovo, from where they were allegedly smuggled to European Union countries.
The Jordanian national is also suspected of leading a well-organized criminal group that allegedly profited substantial financial gains from this illegal activity.
During the operation, authorities confiscated 53 passports belonging to Jordanian citizens.
The competent prosecutor’s office was consulted regarding the actions taken and decided to detain the two suspects for 48 hours for further investigation.
The Kosovo Police urged citizens to report any suspicious activity related to migrant trafficking, emphasizing that law enforcement institutions will continue to prevent and combat this criminal phenomenon.
