The management of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) has raised the alarm over the broadcaster’s worsening financial situation, announcing that, as of July 31, it has not received any budget funds for the second half of 2025.
As a result, the payment of staff salaries and fulfillment of other operational obligations are now at serious risk.
“RTK has timely informed the relevant institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and sent official requests, but so far we have not received any response or information regarding further steps,” the management said in a statement.
Efforts to maintain financial stability through internal rational management and optimization have proven insufficient to overcome the crisis without institutional support, RTK emphasized.
As a public broadcaster with a constitutional mission, RTK warns that any further delays in financial support will endanger the broadcaster’s operation and erode public trust in its news service.
In the current situation, where the Assembly of Kosovo has not yet been constituted, RTK’s management has called on the caretaker Government to react immediately and treat this matter as a top priority to ensure the continued functioning of the public service broadcaster.
Meanwhile, the RTK Workers’ Union has announced a protest on August 6 if the necessary funds are not allocated.
