The Kosovo Assembly’s Committee on Legislation, Mandates, Immunities and Rules of Procedure has approved the draft law amending the Law on Specialist Chambers at its first reading.

The legislation received nine votes in favor, with no votes against and no abstentions.

Committee member Përparim Gruda said the bill, sponsored by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), aims to protect what he described as the just character of the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (KLA) war.

“PDK is the sponsor of this law. I hope we can pass it without divisions. It is an extremely important law for protecting standards of justice. Through this law, we protect the just war of the KLA. This law amends the Law on Specialist Chambers,” Gruda said.

The draft now proceeds to the next stage of the parliamentary process.
