Albin Kurti and Fatmir Limaj have agreed that the leader of the Social Democratic Initiative (Nisma) will be proposed as the Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly.
The two leaders met on Monday evening.
They negotiated to reach an agreement for a governing coalition.
Paparaci, citing sources close to both parties, LVV and Nisma, learned that Kurti and Limaj have agreed that Lëvizja Vetëvendosje will propose Fatmir Limaj for Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly during the constitutive session on Tuesday.
Kurti told Limaj that before finalizing the agreement, “he needs to consult with the party’s organs.” He also mentioned that he has 61 votes for the new parliamentary majority, sources informed Paparaci.
If Vetëvendosje proposes Limaj for Speaker on Tuesday’s session, then the LVV-Nisma agreement will be confirmed.
Additionally, Limaj’s proposal would mean that Kurti has the votes for the new government.
The constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. The agenda for the first meeting includes the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers.
