Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met today with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, with both leaders praising the strong and enduring partnership between Italy and the United States.
In a statement released by the Italian government, the bilateral relationship was described as “excellent”, with a shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation across security, economic development, and technological progress.
The meeting builds upon the joint declaration adopted during Meloni’s recent visit to Washington, where she met with President Donald Trump.
Focus on Ukraine, Trade, and Global Stability
The Rome talks also featured in-depth discussions on international issues, particularly the war in Ukraine. Both sides reiterated the importance of working toward a “just and lasting peace” and reaffirmed their joint efforts to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Trade was also on the agenda, as Italy and the U.S. continue to deepen transatlantic economic ties and explore new avenues for technological and defense collaboration.
The Italian government emphasized that the Meloni-Vance dialogue reflects a growing convergence of strategic priorities between the two nations.
