Petar Petković, director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, through a statement has publicly defended Milan Radoičić, whom Kosovo authorities have identified as the main organizer of the terrorist attack on 24 September 2023 in Banjska.
Petković, in his reaction on “X” to criticisms from the Serbian opposition, called the accusation that Radoičić is responsible for terror against Serbs “low and shameful,” shifting all blame onto Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Petković also attacked Serbian opposition politician Miroslav Aleksić for criticizing Radoičić, stating that “a Serbian patriot does not expel his own people, but fights for them with heart and soul.”
This statement comes as a clear political backing from official Belgrade for a figure linked to the armed attack against Kosovo law enforcement forces.
Radoičić himself has admitted responsibility for organizing the attack, saying that he personally made all logistical preparations. Despite this, he remains free in Serbia, without being prosecuted by Serbian authorities.
For the terrorist attack in Banjska, the international community, including NATO, has repeatedly called for accountability from Serbia, demanding that Milan Radoičić be brought to justice.
