Operation “Serbian Dinar”, Police seized money and interviewed the manager of “Nardodna Banka” as a suspect – details
The police announce that in the wake of the investigative actions related to the case entitled “Serbian dinar” today the control of the branch of the bank called “Nardodna Banka” on the street “Knjaz Millosh” in North Mitrovica was carried out, in which case a safe was checked which at the time of the inspection on 20.05.2024 could not be opened in the absence of the responsible person who had the keys.
“On 29.05.2024, the police investigators managed to identify the manager of the point, who was contacted and brought the keys to the safe in whose presence it was opened and the following monetary assets were seized: 152,290.00 dinars (one hundred and fifty two thousand two hundred and ninety Serbian dinars) €4,580 (four thousand five hundred and eighty euros) and CHF 940 (nine hundred and forty Swiss francs)”, informs the police.
After the inspection, the manager of the point was interviewed as a suspect in the presence of the defense lawyer, while the inspection process was carried out without any incident, it is stated in the police announcement.
“Other professional investigations related to the case are in process and all ongoing legal decisions will be taken in coordination with the justice bodies”, the announcement states.
In May, the authorities in Kosovo carried out a police operation against Serbian financial institutions in the north of Kosovo, which resulted in the closure of six facilities of the Post Savings Bank and the People’s Bank of Serbia in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs.
