The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), led by its chairman Bedri Hamza, paid tribute at the Assembly of Kosovo in honor of the life and legacy of former MP and activist Flora Brovina.
Flora Brovina passed away on September 15 at the age of 76.
Brovina was a political prisoner, a veteran of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) war, a member of the Assembly of Kosovo, and one of the signatories of Kosovo’s Declaration of Independence.
She was born in 1949 in Skenderaj and grew up in Prishtina, where she completed her primary education before studying medicine. After completing her specialization in Zagreb, Brovina returned to Kosovo.
For a period, she worked as a journalist for the newspaper Rilindja, before returning to her medical profession. For many years, she served in the pediatrics department of Prishtina General Hospital.
Alongside her medical career, Brovina was also involved in literature and the promotion and protection of women’s rights.
On Kosovo’s political scene, she served as a member of the Assembly of Kosovo representing the Democratic Party of Kosovo for six terms, from 2001 to 2019.
Through her work in medicine, politics, literature, and civic engagement, Flora Brovina remains a prominent figure in Kosovo’s public life and history.
