Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has appointed Dr. Đuro Macuta as the new Prime Minister of Serbia.
In his speech delivered at the Presidential Palace before the media, Vučić stated that former Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, who carried out his duties with honor and responsibility, resigned on January 28th along with two ministers, Mr. Vesić and Mr. Umirović, as a moral and political decision following the tragedy in Novi Sad.
“We lost an excellent Prime Minister, a good man. The new government will be elected on Good Friday, and it will have difficult tasks ahead. The country needs to resolve the issue of U.S. taxes, accelerate the EU accession process, maintain traditional friendships, and avoid using force until the very last moment in the East. My recommendation to the president is to choose only people who want to fight and push the country forward,” said Vučić.
Serbian President Vučić stated that Dr. Đuro Macuta possesses both the professional and personal qualities, dedication, and expertise needed to perform the duties of Prime Minister. He assured that Macuta will ensure the formation of the government.
“The new Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia will continue to implement programs aimed at raising the living standards of all citizens, focusing on projects in healthcare, education, infrastructure, science and technology, as well as tourism, among other areas of importance for Serbia’s future and its progress on the European path, while maintaining and further enhancing traditionally good relations and cooperation with friendly countries around the world,” said Vučić.
Vučić posted a photo from his meeting with Dr. Macuta on Instagram.
“My first meeting with Prof. Dr. Đuro Macuta, to whom I wish good luck and much success,” Vučić wrote on his Instagram profile.
