Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a telephone conversation during which they discussed recent developments in the Middle East.

Putin emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to regional conflicts and expressed Russia’s support for the sovereignty of Syria. He also offered Russia’s assistance in easing tensions between Iran and Israel, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

Both leaders agreed to keep the lines of communication open between their countries.

The Israeli side confirmed the conversation took place and that it focused on Iran and Syria but did not provide detailed comments on the content.

This was the first phone call between Putin and Netanyahu since June 13, when Israel carried out preemptive strikes on Iranian nuclear sites—an action criticized by Moscow.
