The Minister for Communities and Return in the Government of Kosovo, Nenad Rashiq, stated that he has unofficial information indicating that the Serbian List is working towards boycotting the national and local elections.
In the last local elections, they boycotted the process, resulting in the election of Albanian mayors in four northern municipalities.
However, Rashiq warned that Serbian citizens might again refrain from participating in elections organized by the state of Kosovo, particularly in the parliamentary elections set for February 9.
According to Rashiq, the Serbian List is organizing this boycott. He added that President Vučić’s call for immediate elections is legally impossible.
When the election period arrives, this request could serve as a pretext for non-participation.
“I believe that request will be dramatized in a way where I expect some factions, especially from the Serbian List, to announce some form of non-participation in the electoral process. Whether this will occur in part of Kosovo or throughout the entire territory remains to be seen in the future,” Rashiq stated to RTV Dukagjini.
Afterward, the minister declined to provide further information, stating that he did not want to reveal everything he knows about this plan.
“I apologize, but it’s too early. If we tell you we know everything they are planning, it wouldn’t be good for us. It would be better for them because then they would understand they are ‘busted,’ as it is said. At this moment, I can say with certainty that they will be destructive,” he declared.
