The Italian prime minister is expected to visit Azerbaijan in the coming weeks to continue political dialogue and energy cooperation between Rome and Baku, with Azerbaijani gas supplies via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline remaining a key pillar of bilateral relations.

Energy is expected to be a central focus of the visit, as Italy and Azerbaijan continue to strengthen cooperation in the sector. Azerbaijan supplies natural gas to Italy through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is part of the broader Southern Gas Corridor linking the Caspian region to Europe.

According to TAP management, the pipeline has delivered tens of billions of cubic meters of natural gas to Italy since the start of commercial operations, covering a significant share of the country’s gas demand. Recent infrastructure upgrades have further increased transport capacity, reinforcing energy security and supply diversification for Europe.

Officials and experts say that the upcoming visit is part of ongoing high-level engagement between the two countries and is expected to reaffirm their long-standing energy partnership. Italy remains Azerbaijan’s leading trade partner, with cooperation also expanding into additional sectors beyond energy.
