Miloš Vučević announced on Monday that the recently arrested “Croatian spy” in Serbia is actually of Serbian origin.
“I don’t know if he has Croatian citizenship, but he is being treated according to the law,” said the Serbian Prime Minister.
This statement came after Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said the whole story “does not seem serious,” as reported by index.hr.
Last week, Serbia announced that a “Croatian spy” had been arrested in the Belgrade area, but official Zagreb still does not know who this person is.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Bled Strategic Forum on Monday, Plenković compared the aforementioned spy to a Yeti, a mythical creature from the Himalayas.
Vučević dismissed that comparison, emphasizing that this person “truly exists” and that he had shared certain information about him with Plenković.
“Our intelligence agencies will release data when necessary,” Vučević said, adding that Croatian services already know who this person is.
However, Plenković said his Serbian counterpart “has not provided any concrete information” and called on him to reveal the name of the arrested person if he truly exists.
“It doesn’t seem serious to me,” Plenković said, drawing a parallel with the cult film “Balkan Spy,” in which the main character believes his tenant is an intelligence officer.
