“Urgent elections, the return of Serbian police officers, judges, the Association, the release of political prisoners, and the unblocking of the import of Serbian goods—this is Serbia’s official stance on resolving the crisis in northern Kosovo,” said Serbian Ambassador to Montenegro, Nebojša Rodić.

“The crisis in northern Kosovo intensified even more at the beginning of this summer. The main administrative institutions of the Republic of Serbia in Kosovo are being closed,” continued the Serbian diplomat.

Following the recent tensions this week and in anticipation of Serbian President Vučić’s speech today at 6:00 PM, where he is expected to present a series of demands and measures Serbia will undertake amid the crisis in northern Kosovo and the increasingly difficult position of Serbs there, Ambassador Rodić aimed to inform the Speaker of the Montenegrin Parliament, as the head of the most important institution in Montenegro, about Serbia’s official stance, which is reflected in several points for resolving the “extremely difficult existing problem, the crisis in Kosovo,” Serbian media report.

The points are:

Immediate Organization of Free Elections in the municipalities in northern Kosovo, where power is currently exercised by individuals who lack a basis in the will of the citizens of these municipalities.

Urgent Return of 700 Serbian Police Officers to the “temporary institutions” that should restore security and calm in the northern municipalities, as “basic human rights are being threatened these days.”

Resolution of the Issue in the Justice Sector because since the arrival of the head of “temporary institutions” in Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, to power, there has been no talk of returning judges and prosecutors to the judicial system, which was agreed upon in the Brussels Agreement.

Formation of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority.

Release of All Politically Imprisoned Persons, noting that these individuals are initially detained and only then charged with the crime they are suspected of committing.

Seeking Resolution to the Blockade on Importing Products from Serbia to Kosovo, as it has been 14 months since this ban began, while the EU, which is committed to the free movement of people, information, and goods, has done nothing to resolve this issue.
