Russia has continued its attacks on Ukrainian cities on Friday morning, hitting the southern region of Odesa and Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city.

At least one person was killed and 38 others were wounded, including an infant, according to regional officials.

A large drone attack overnight on Odesa left one person dead and nine others injured, reported Ukraine’s Emergency Service, adding that residential buildings, businesses, schools, and warehouses were also damaged.

Kharkiv was attacked for the second consecutive day on Friday, said the city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov.

A Russian rocket hit a high-rise residential building in the Saltiv district of the city, injuring 25 people, including a three-month-old infant, Terekhov said.

Historical and residential buildings in the city center were also damaged, he added.

In the Kyiv region, four people were injured, two of them seriously, said regional governor Ruslan Kravchenko.

The war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war a “special military operation” to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia by hitting the country’s economy with harsh sanctions.

As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions more have been displaced from their homes.
