Human remains suspected of belonging to victims of the recent war in Kosovo have been discovered during excavations carried out in the village of Kalludër e Vogël in Zubin Potok.
Sources from RKS News report that during an operation conducted on August 14 at the so-called “Location 3,” skeletal remains belonging to three individuals were found.
The operation involved joint teams of war crimes investigators, relevant police units, and experts from the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
According to information obtained by RKS News, experts determined during the excavations that the skeletal remains were of human origin and were of forensic interest.
Initial suspicions are that the remains may belong to victims of the recent war in Kosovo and that the individuals whose remains were discovered may potentially be included on the national list of missing persons.
The excavations and investigative activities in the area are linked to a case being investigated as a suspected “War Crime Against the Civilian Population,” dating back to April 19, 1999.
According to the case records, the victims of the crimes under investigation are 23 Albanian civilians, while the suspected perpetrators remain unidentified.
The identities of the individuals whose remains were discovered on August 14 have not yet been confirmed and are expected to undergo forensic medical procedures for identification.
