Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met with U.S. General Joseph Clearfield, head of the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L).

The meeting focused on the security situation and Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon.

Berri said Israel has continued what he described as systematic violations and attacks against Lebanon and the south since November 2024, including the destruction of villages, agricultural land and forests, as well as damage to cultural heritage sites.

Lebanon’s leading Shiite politician and an ally of Hezbollah called on Israel to end the conflict and withdraw to the internationally recognized border.

Under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement, Israel had agreed to gradually withdraw from southern Lebanon while the Lebanese Army would deploy in the affected areas.
