In a landmark move during the 198th government meeting, the Republic of Kosovo has taken a significant step towards bolstering its national defense capabilities and international cooperation. The Minister of Defence, Ejup Maqedonci, announced the approval of the Legislation for the Ratification of the Military Framework Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of Turkey. This ratification paves the way for its subsequent approval in the Assembly.
This agreement outlines a comprehensive plan for cooperation across various sectors, including military training and education, defense industry collaboration, military intelligence exchange, military medicine, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations, and counter-terrorism efforts.
Turkey’s unwavering support for Kosovo at every stage of its development, particularly in the realm of defense, has been highlighted as a cornerstone of this partnership. Through the exchange of military expertise, as well as the provision of weaponry, equipment, and military supplies, this agreement signifies a mutual commitment to enhancing the operational capabilities of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK). These provisions have been realized through direct state-to-state purchases during the current administration.
The ratification of this military framework agreement is expected to significantly enhance the potential for collaboration between Kosovo and Turkey, further strengthening their defense ties and contributing to regional stability and security.
