Syrian Foreign Minister: Kosovo Recognition Achieved with Turkey’s Support

Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, confirmed that the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo was made “under the patronage of Saudi Arabia and with the support of Turkey.”

Al-Shaibani emphasized that Syria recognizes Kosovo as an independent state, reaffirming “respect for sovereignty and the right of peoples to self-determination.”

“Under the patronage of Saudi Arabia and with Turkey’s support, the Syrian Arab Republic announced the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent state, reaffirming respect for sovereignty and the right of peoples to self-determination. Damascus expresses respect for the will and aspirations of the people of Kosovo and looks forward to the development of bilateral relations between Damascus and Pristina, to promote stability and mutual respect among nations,” he stated in a post published on X.

With this step, Syria becomes the 120th country to recognize Kosovo’s independence.
