On the occasion of the day of persons forcibly disappeared during the war in Kosovo, a commemorative gathering was organized by the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo at the Memorial Complex in Mejë.

On the 25th anniversary of the Meja massacre, heads of state demanded justice for the victims, vowing that the call for justice will never fail.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani called the massacre of Meja “Srebrenica of Kosovo”.

“Today we are here with endlessly heavy hearts, this place is “Srebrenica of Kosovo”, this place is also our most powerful call for justice. 376 innocent civilians had their dreams cut in half just because they were Albanians. The families of the violently disappeared will never be alone,” President Osmani said, according to Klankosova.tv.

Until, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that for Albanians, the spring season is a commemorative season for the Meja massacre.

“You have fresh memories of the morning of that year when the paramilitary and military forces of Serbia expelled the civilians from the villages of Gjakova. The deportees led them from Meja where they looted them and the women and children were led to Albania, while the young men and boys were killed in the village of Meja”, said Kurti.
