The Kremlin has stated on Monday that if the U.S. allows Ukraine to use American-made weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, it would lead to an escalation of tensions and deepen U.S. involvement in the conflict.

Speaking at his regular daily press conference, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said there was no change in Russia’s position from what President Vladimir Putin had stated in September. Putin had said that he would consider the use of U.S.-made weapons on Russian soil as a direct involvement of NATO in the conflict.

In response to a question from Tass, Peskov said that Russia was aware of the Biden administration’s apparent decision only through Western media reports.

When asked about recent peace efforts by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Peskov stated that any so-called “freezing” of the conflict along the current front lines was unacceptable to the Russian Federation.
