A Panama-flagged cargo ship, MSC Francesca, has been attacked this morning while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, around 6 nautical miles off the coast of Iran.

According to the maritime intelligence firm Vanguard, the vessel was stopped by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and ordered to anchor. It is reported to have sustained damage to its hull and accommodation areas, though there is no confirmation yet of injuries, BBC reports.

This marks the third reported attack in the strategic waterway within a short period, raising growing concerns over maritime security in the region.
