Ukraine has asked Turkey to help organize a possible meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an effort to revive peace talks, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has said.

Sybiha stated that the request was made not only to Turkey but also to several other capitals, stressing that Ukraine is ready to consider any host country as a potential venue, except Russia and Belarus.

According to him, Belarus is not an option due to its role as an ally of Russia and its territory being used in the launch of the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. He added that Ukraine would accept any neutral country capable of facilitating dialogue.

On the other hand, the Kremlin has said it is ready for Zelensky to meet in Moscow, a proposal the Ukrainian president has rejected.

Sybiha did not provide details on Turkey’s response to the request, but emphasized that Kyiv remains open to any international initiative that could lead to a resolution of the war, which has lasted for more than four years.
