Miloš Jovanović, president of Serbia’s New Democratic Party of Serbia (New DSS), has accused President Aleksandar Vučić of bearing responsibility for recent developments in Kosovo, including the demolition of structures near Ujman Lake and the arrests of Serbs, arguing that they are consequences of Belgrade’s acceptance of the French-German proposal and the Ohrid Agreement implementation annex.
In a written statement, Jovanović said the repeated arrests of Serbs and the demolition of buildings in the Ujman area demonstrate what he described as “the full extent of the betrayal” committed by the Serbian leadership through its Kosovo policy.
According to the New DSS leader, the objective of what he called “secessionist actions” is to place constant pressure on the Serbian community in Kosovo, encouraging its gradual displacement from the territory.
“The process must be stopped immediately. Serbia should continue its policy of encouraging the withdrawal of recognitions of Kosovo’s independence, strengthen the Serbian community in the province, and firmly reaffirm United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, which, among other provisions, envisages the return of Serbian security forces to our southern province,” Jovanović stated.
His remarks came after Kosovo authorities demolished the former Hotel Jezero near Ujman Lake, an operation secured by Kosovo Police and presented by the authorities as part of the removal of illegal structures.
Jovanović also said that New DSS and its monarchist allies would serve as the “true and authentic right-wing” political force capable of replacing the current government and changing Serbia’s approach to Kosovo.
The French-German proposal, later incorporated into the Ohrid implementation agreement, remains one of the most contentious issues in Serbian domestic politics, with nationalist opposition parties accusing President Vučić of making unacceptable concessions on Kosovo, while the government maintains that it is seeking to protect Serbia’s national interests through dialogue.
