Keith Kellogg, the U.S. envoy for President Donald Trump on the war in Ukraine, has denied reports suggesting he proposed the division of Ukraine. The British newspaper The Times had earlier claimed that Kellogg suggested British and French forces take control of western Ukraine as part of “stabilization forces,” while Russian troops would remain in the east, drawing parallels to the post-World War II division of Berlin.

In response, Kellogg took to platform X to clarify his remarks, stating that his comments were “misinterpreted.” He emphasized that he was discussing the need for forces to support Ukraine’s sovereignty following a ceasefire, not proposing any form of division of the country.

Neither the White House nor official Ukrainian representatives have commented on the British report.
