British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said today that the United Kingdom will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s invasion, despite Moscow’s warnings of consequences for London.

“The United Kingdom is doing what it has long said it would do: support Ukraine 100 percent against this illegal war led by Vladimir Putin,” Burnham told reporters.

He stressed that London is providing Kyiv with the assistance it needs to defend itself and that this policy has not changed under his leadership.

“We are not friends only in good times. We will stand with Ukraine in its most difficult moment, and that will not change,” the British prime minister added.

Burnham’s comments came a day after the Russian Embassy in London warned that Britain would be held “responsible” for the consequences of its military cooperation with Ukraine.

The Russian warning followed reports that British-made drones had been used by Ukraine in long-range strikes against targets inside Russian territory.
