U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran wants to reach a deal with the United States “quickly and desperately” to end the conflict, leaving open the possibility of a diplomatic solution as fighting in the Middle East continues to raise concerns over global oil supplies.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Tehran was urgently seeking an agreement and indicated that Washington remained open to becoming directly involved in a potential diplomatic settlement.
“The failed nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly and desperately. I will decide whether the United States chooses to get involved, an idea we are open to,” Trump wrote.
Trump’s comments come as tensions in the region continue to escalate, fueling concerns that the conflict could spread further across the Middle East.
The Gulf states have postponed a planned meeting with Iranian representatives in Oman, while Yemen’s Houthi movement has launched new attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, adding to uncertainty over the next phase of the conflict.
Trump’s remarks suggest that despite the continuing military confrontation, Washington has not ruled out diplomacy if an agreement can be reached that meets U.S. objectives.
The possibility of negotiations comes amid growing international concern over the potential impact of the conflict on energy markets and the security of oil supplies.
