The U.S. Embassy in Pristina has issued a security advisory concerning demonstrations planned for September 16, the day the verdict is expected in The Hague in the case involving former KLA leaders.
The embassy urged citizens to avoid areas where protests are expected and to exercise caution around large gatherings.
According to the advisory, the demonstrations could lead to significant crowds, road closures and major traffic disruptions. Citizens have therefore been advised to limit movement and avoid routes passing through affected areas, particularly if traveling to work or school.
“Several organizations are planning large demonstrations for Wednesday, September 16, in central Pristina and other major cities across Kosovo,” the embassy said, warning that people may be unable to complete their journeys on time due to road closures and traffic disruptions.
U.S. government personnel have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel near protest areas and not to send their children to school on September 16 due to the possibility of significant traffic disruptions.
The embassy said it will remain open, while consular services will be provided on a limited basis as needed.
