Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems have shot down all nine drones that Russia launched into Ukrainian territory on Tuesday morning, the Ukrainian Air Force announced.
The drones were shot down over Kherson, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, Cherkasy and Dnipropetrovsk regions, it said in a statement.
In recent weeks, Russia has significantly increased attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, as Ukrainian forces are facing shortages of anti-aircraft systems and ammunition, reports rel.
Much-needed US aid to Kiev has stalled in the House of Representatives, due to opposition from Republicans.
On April 14, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on Kiev’s Western allies to “urgently” send additional air defense systems, weapons and ammunition.
Four people were killed as a result of Russian attacks in Siversk in Donetsk on Monday, the head of the regional administration, Vadym Filashkin, said.
Kuleba told Ukrainian television that negotiations were underway for the delivery of more Patriot systems, but expressed disappointment after arguing that the process was too slow as his country faces an unprovoked invasion that Russia launched in February 2022.
