The journalist from Kosovo, Monada Mehmetaj, in a connection with Skype in the Opinion column on News24, has commented on the vote for Kosovo, for Prishtina to be part of the Council of Europe.

Mahmetaj emphasized that the situation in Brussels is tense. She added that all the amendments of Serbia, which were clearly against Kosovo, were rejected.

“Kosovo needs a two-thirds majority vote. The situation is tense. You have to lobby until the last moment. Bakoyani’s speech was positively evaluated. If Kosovo is included in the protocols, it will strengthen the rule of law. Having cooperation with the Council of Europe, the country becomes more democratic and human rights are respected.

The Achilles’ heel is the Serbian municipalities, which are on the border with Serbia. There are 6 amendments from Serbia that were presented against the membership of Kosovo and all of them were rejected”, declared the journalist Mehmetaj.
